Secure Payments
Secure Credit and Debit card payments via RBSWorldPay
An important part of The Royal Bank of Scotland Group, the 5th biggest banking group in the world, RBSWorldPay payment solutions are trusted by thousands of businesses.
Security is probably one of the most significant concerns for both the shopper and the retailer during an online transaction. The RBSWorldPay payment system uses a combination of both established and innovative techniques to ensure the security and integrity of all sensitive data. The transfer of the purchase details from the retailers site to Worldpay are encapsulated using our own encrypted and digitally-signed protocol. This uses a combination of standard methods such as PGP, RSA and MD5 to ensure that the information passed is secure and tamper-proof via SSL.
Security for the Shopper
Any communication between the shopper and RBSWorldPay is also encrypted to the maximum strength supported by the shopper's browser using 256 Bit SSL. Shoppers are also protected from fraudulent use of their card in a "card not present" environment, by their card issuers. The card issuers provide the right for shopper to dispute a transaction if the goods/services did not arrive or if the card was used fraudulently.
Data Storage
Data storage on RBSWorldPay systems, and the communication between RBSWorldPay and the worldwide banking networks, is regularly audited by the banking authorities to ensure a secure transaction environment. We also ensure that we stay up-to-date with the latest versions of any third-party code we use, and continually review our own proprietary code.
RBSWorldPay secure payments processing
We use RBSWorldPay secure payments processing to process our credit card payments. You should note the following in relation to this:
When you sign up with us for a hosting account an agreement is made that will automatically debit your card on a monthly or annual basis, depending on the option you choose.
A username and password is created for you on their system, which is either e-mailed to you or displayed on the payment confirmation page at signup.
With this username and password you can update your credit card details, cancel payments, or alter your e-mail address and contact details - please note, that it is important that you maintain correct details at all times.
If a payment fails due to being refused by your bank or due to the credit card expiring then an email notification is sent from RBSWorldPay to the address details they hold for you, hence the importance of maintaining correct information..
If a payment fails on more than 3 successive days the agreement becomes suspended - should this happen we will suspend your web site pending contact and subsequent payment by you.
If your credit card expires and you do not update the details and a payment is missed we will suspend your web site pending contact or payment by you.
For these reasons it is VITAL that you maintain your information correctly on the RBSWorldPay system.
